The Democratic National Committee, or DNC, was created during the Democratic National Convention of 1848. For 171 years, it’s been responsible for governing the Democratic Party and is the oldest continuing party committee in the United States.

Under the leadership of Chair Jaime Harrison, the DNC is composed of the chairs and vice-chairs of each state Democratic Party Committee and 200+ members elected by Democrats in 57 states and territories.

Our party is strong because it’s built on advancing our Democratic platform and forging positive solutions that include everyone. We believe that every person in this nation should be treated with dignity and respect. We believe that health care is a right for all and that we should be rewarding the hard work of middle-class families. We believe that our schools and streets should be free from gun violence and that a woman’s decisions about her own body are hers to make.

WHAT WE DO

The DNC is working around the clock to build a strong Democratic Party capable of lifting Democrats across the country to victory, from the school board to the oval office. We’re working hard to elect Democrats everywhere by empowering grassroots activists, mobilizing voters, and organizing in every ZIP code.

The Democratic Party supports leaders who fight for equality, justice, and opportunity for all. President Biden is working to build a better America by investing in the middle class and bringing down costs for working families. Together, we’ll build our economy from the bottom up and the middle out.

Data, technology, infrastructure

​

The DNC Tech team develops solutions to pressing problems facing campaigns up and down the ballot. Our continuously updated view of American voters, rich store of historical campaign data, cloud-based data warehouse, and custom data science models enable campaigns to effectively reach voters.

In addition, the DNC Tech team invests heavily in cybersecurity and counter-disinformation.

Voter protection

​

Democrats can’t win if voters are kept from registering to vote, kicked off the voter rolls, or face barriers when casting their ballots. The DNC has invested in a full-time, national English- and Spanish-language voter hotline to help Americans check their registration status and determine how, when, and where to vote.
